Tuesday 21st March - The day it all started..

A chance drive into the allotment, a quick chat with the site manager, and 2 hours later I had managed to acquire a half plot (20'x45')! The current owner is struggling to manage the whole plot due to poor health and I'd be doing him a favour by taking half on so that he could continue with a smaller section. Extremely excited, I raced into the local bookshop and bought 2 allotment books and a copy of Hessayon's "Vegetable & Herb Expert"....highly recommended.
I also joined the following website/forum and this has proved invaluable....full of tips and advice from other allotment owners

As you can see, I've been very lucky as most people take on quite a challenge with a new plot (see some of the other blog sites on the above link!!). My newly acquired advisors (all over 7o!), very kindly rotovated the plot for me, provided combinations to their shed padlocks and loaned me any tools I wanted.

And that's how the fun started....
